Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Logistics Policy (NLP) at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi. On this occasion, PM Modi said that this policy is an important step towards making India a developed nation. With the help of this policy, the cost of logistics in India will come down, which is currently higher as compared to other developed countries.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that India has become the fifth largest economy in the world. Also, this policy has brought a new hope for every sector. He said that the National Logistics Policy has not started suddenly, for this work was being done for the last 8 years.
Objective of National Logistics Policy:
Cost reduction: India's logistics cost is quite high as compared to the US and other developed countries. Efforts will be made to reduce this cost with the help of this policy. The aim of this policy is to cut costs, which currently stands at around 14-15 per cent. Its aim is to reduce it by about 8 percent in the next five years.
Quick delivery to the last end:
The Prime Minister said that with the help of this, early delivery will be ensured till the last end. Along with this, transportation related challenges will also be solved.
Money saving:
With the help of this, measures will be taken to save time and money of logistics manufacturers. Under this policy, measures will also be taken to prevent wastage of agricultural products.
Value addition and enterprise:
With the help of this, the logistics cost will be reduced. This will improve the efficiency of various sectors of the economy and encourage value addition and entrepreneurship.
